Many QCF BTEC
qualifications rates increased 25% in-year
Visit this link for the YPLA document expaining the change:
http://tinyurl.com/324q3y4
On Friday the Learning Aim Database (LAD) was quietly updated to include rate
changes to QCF BTEC Level 2 Diplomas and Level 3 Subsidiary Diplomas. Initially
the technical advisory group had approved a YPLA proposal to list the guided
learning hours (glh) for both of these qualifications based at the recommended
deliver level (360 glh). However, myself and former colleagues at Edexcel
met with the YPLA funding team to question the decision, which has led to
a rethink. The technical advisory group recently met again, and have made
a u-turn, agreeing to revert back to the original listed rate of 450 glh as
the evidence did not support the original decision. This rate increase from
360glh back to 450glh has now been updated in the LAD and some colleges are
already reporting a rise in funding for their LR01 of nearly £500k!
A decision about 2011/12 has yet to be made
If you have just submitted an LR01 (deadline 6pm today) an used a LAD from a few days ago maybe you now know why your funding claim posted on the Online Data Collection Portal is higher than the funding software (LIS) is reporting!
These rate increases are only applied to 16-18 year-olds and are unlikely to have an impact on allocations for 2011/12 ~ as 2010/11 headcount rather than SLNs are used.
More information is likely to be posted on the Edexcel website in due course: http://tinyurl.com/29kvz3o
To find out more about what all this means, why not sign up for the popular QCF Funding Masterclass. I’m delivering one in London on the 1st of February and in Leeds on the 3rd of February. Find out more via the links at www.lsect.com
16-18 Allocations
for 2010/11 published
Today the YPLA published the spreadsheet of 16-18 allocations for this year.
The spreadsheet includes not only the providers factors, but also the learner
numbers and SLNs (so you can compare SLN per learner numbers with other colleges)
http://tinyurl.com/2dxv84h
If you would also like the 19+ allocations spreadsheet (as at 22/09/10), then it is here: http://tinyurl.com/2u4n4gm

Nick
